::I’m the flash in the photo::
We celebrated the birthday of one of the NUS girls today. An elaborate plan was drawn up by another girl to keep her occupied for the whole day so that we would be able to prepare a feast and buy a birthday cake. The plan faced many challenges as throughout the time, the birthday girl kept changing her mind as to what she wanted to do. The poor guy who was tasked to accompany her had to adjust so many times, and eventually we do not know how, but he managed the task to hold her out until 6.30pm (he refuses to tell us what they did!)
The plan made it seem as if we had all forgotten about her birthday, but I guess she probably knew something was up. We surprised her at her door, made her cut her birthday cake with a fruit knife, then kept the cake and we all moved to another location. At our other Studentenheim we had a whole table full of food waiting for her, as well as mee sua for the birthday girl! There was rösti, a quiche-like thing, fried rice, dumplings (both fried and steamed), long beans, delicious vegetable soup (not like when i make it) and sweet potato soup for dessert. It was also the largest turnout of people at any one of our organized birthday parties, 11 had dinner while another 5 stopped by to wish the birthday girl.
I’m just tired now. Busy schedule for the next many days, I really need some sleep! Am I doing too much each day? (:
